THE SPAGHETTI VARIABLE
Director
A scientist has lost their memory in a traumatic ankle injury. In order to get their memory back, they have performed a series of experiments all leading to the idea that eating really hot spaghetti could trigger the memories they're seeking. After being teleported through different planes of reality (from a saw player in Soviet Russia to a performer in a children's television variety show to a Beatnik Slam Poet), the scientist finally finds the memory that they've been suppressing. And it's not a good one. Developed by Mitchell Ashe and Gus Mahoney over almost two years, this clown show is an ode to grief and the memories it takes from us.
Performed at The Tank NYC for a workshop in February 2024, a run in November 2024, and an industry showcase in January 2025.
